Esri Bulgaria received a special plaque as a technology partner of the largest volunteer initiative in Bulgaria
The date of this year’s big national clean-up is already known – 16 September. And the organizers from bTV expect about 400 thousand volunteers to take part in it. This became clear at the special ceremony organized for the launch of the 11th annual campaign “Let’s Clean Bulgaria Together”, held on June 9 at Event Space 2020. Among the official guests were Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov, as well as representatives of companies and organizations, partners of the initiative.
At the ceremony, special awards of appreciation were presented to outstanding volunteers and partners of the campaign. Miglena Kuzmanova, Business Development Manager at Esri Bulgaria, and Anastasia Chotrova, Senior GIS Expert at the company, accepted the special plaque in recognition of Esri Bulgaria’s long-standing support as a technology partner of the initiative.
“Let’s Clean Up Bulgaria” is the largest volunteer initiative in Bulgaria. According to the Ministry of Environment, 2 500 000 people have joined the campaign so far, collecting 94 000 tons of waste.
The official launch of the global initiative for 2023 was given on 6 June in Brussels by the President of the European Parliament – Ms Roberta Mezzola. In 2023, World Cleanup Day will take place under the patronage of the European Parliament and with the strong support of the United Nations, which has included the initiative in its programme and the UN Environment Council.
“We are expecting more volunteers in this year’s edition. More than 190 countries will take part in World Cleanup Day on 16 September. On 6 June, we received a launch sign with the support of the European Parliament and the European institutions. I hope that in Bulgaria we will again show that our team is the strongest and most responsible and that we will have 400,000 volunteers”, said Maria Lazarova, Marketing Manager TV Projects at bTV, on the occasion of the campaign launch.
