07 October 2021 – On the occasion of the World Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day, Esri Bulgaria in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria, leading educational organizations and media, announces the first National Educational Competition for stories with digital maps entitled “Digital stories from school and university”.
The contest is open for all teachers, high school, bachelor’s and masters’ students, and Ph.D. They are invited to participate by presenting an inspiring story, lesson or interesting topic in a new, fascinating way with the universal language of interactive maps (StoryMaps).
The interactive maps combine one or more web maps with text, photos, and multimedia content that can make any story even more exciting. For those who have not used ArcGIS StoryMaps so far, the organizers have prepared a number of ready-to-use templates and video instructions.
Within the competition, each of the participants will have the opportunity to create an interactive map with which to apply in one of the following three categories:
- Teachers
- Bachelor’s and Masters’ students, and Ph.D. candidates
- High school students

The presented maps will be evaluated by a jury, including proven specialists in the field of Geographic Information Systems, representatives of leading universities and business organizations in our country, laying the foundation for better communication between different communities in the field of GIS.

The winners of the “Digital Stories from School and University” will be announced on November 17, 2021, as part of World GIS Day, the largest GIS forum in the country, as well as on the competition website.
