GIS developed by Esri Bulgaria is again among the winners of the prestigious contest “IT project of the year”.
Sofia, 25-th of February 2015 – The Geographic Information System (GIS) of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Waters – Rousse developed by ESRI Bulgaria is among the three winners in the category “Public Sector” of the prestigious contest “IT Project of the Year”. The contest is organized for eleventh consecutive year by Computerworld Bulgaria and selects the best IT projects, implemented in the country in 2014.
“Thanks to the contractor of the project, in the face of Esri Bulgaria, and the colleagues of the inspection, whose experience and expertise contributed to the successful development and implementation of the specialized GIS. System which significantly increases the efficiency of the work of the inspection and leads to more effective, coordinated and sustainable management and conservation of the biodiversity and the protected areas of ecological network Natura 2000″, said Nikola Kalaydzhiev, representative of the Ministry of Environment and Waters, who accepted the award on behalf of RIEW – Rousse.
In 2014, within a project, implemented under Operational Programme “Environment”, Esri Bulgaria designed, developed and implemented a specialized Geographic Information System for the needs of RIEW- Rousse. Built upon the world’s leading Esri GIS platform – ArcGIS, the system provides wide capabilities for visualization, integration, processing and sharing of spatial data and information, as well as for preparing of various reports and powerful GIS analysis.
For the purposes of the project, the GIS of RIEW-Rousse supports a rich set of information – from basic and cadastral data to data for protected areas and territories, ancient trees, medicinal plants, investment proposals, and many others. The GIS also meets all international IT and GIS (W3C, OGC, ISO) standards.
Nearly 30 projects participated in this year’s edition of the prestigious contest. The winners in the various categories were announced at an official award ceremony, which took place on February 25, Wednesday, at Hilton Hotel Sofia.
