Every year in November the world celebrates the Day of Geographic Information Systems.

This year the GIS Day in Bulgaria will be celebrated on 16th and 17th November, with many events in the leading universities in the country, as well as Official Cocktail, accompanied by Exhibition Competition for Maps.

The events are organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Environment and Waterwith the kind cooperation of ESRI Bulgaria, HP Bulgaria, Varna and Bulgarian GIS geo-information company. Conducting GIS Day 2011 is the official partnership FLGR, BGBC, BASCOM, BAGIS, NAMB, Green Balkans, Bulgarian Cartographic Association, MGU, University of GGF, UACEG, UF and media support of the newspaper City Building.

The celebration of GIS Day in Bulgaria aims to promote Geospatial technologies to enable the business, public administration and education to meet to exchange experiences and share their achievements and visions for the development of GIS in the country. Each year the GIS community in Bulgaria is growing and GIS Day is becoming more and more popular, covering all areas of economic life!
